Come the months of May well into September, wedding bells ring out loud. This time last year, sadly, many wedding bells (and weddings) were silenced due to the pandemic. With vaccinations ramping up, the warmer part of 2021 is going to be the return of the wedding.
Of course, we here at Alterre have utter love for weddings as we offer a versatile line of bridal shoes for your special day. In the spirit of love, wedding season, and the anticipation of hearing wedding bells chime once again, we composed a list of three upcoming wedding trends as well as our favorite customizable shoes to match each one.
- Sustainability: It was reported on Brides that sustainability (a lifestyle around here too) is trending for 2021 weddings. Meaning, paperless invitations, eco-friendly decorative touches, and no rice for couple exits (it’s really bad for the birds).
Our go-to wedding day shoe pick is the White V Mule with the Marilyn Strap. The 3’’ block heel is made of recycled plastic. It's the perfect blend of sustainability as well as style.
- Tents: In a recent article appearing on The Knot, wedding day tents {think romantic, not campy) are trending for 2021 weddings. This concept only makes sense with the need to gather (and distance) outdoors. The article is even called wedding tents “the new ballroom.”

Our go-to shoe to pair with a whimsical outdoor wedding held under a tent is our White Stiletto and Silver Lozen strap. This heel is both elegant as well as whimsical. Paired with the Silver Lozen strap, makes the ultimate match!
- Elopements: Elopements are having a moment in 2021. After all, can you blame a COVID Bride for not wanting to drop everything and jet-set someplace magical to say ‘I do?' We don’t! According to a 2021 Wedding Trends article on Green Wedding Shoes, more couples are eloping opting for an intimate wedding someplace romantic.
So, what shoes would we pack for an elopement? Definitely, our White Boot! This would look so chic for a wedding with mountains in the background or in the midst of a desert.
